Rodent If you're only going to buy one Mongrel Jew album this season, I recommend it be this one. Totally. To the max. The others are grand, toe-tappingly speaking, but the recording quality here is much better. I hope these lovelies show up on my doorstep with their instruments so I can re-record the rest of their catchy tunes under better acoustic circumstances, and when I'm less drunk. Please pass that joint, don't bogart it. Favorite track: The Smuggler's Anthem.

My Flask 03:40
One night, while crawling on Pike Street Met a girl who thought me a swell The things we had tasted Had made us quite wasted And walking a straight line to hell She scooted in close to me sweetly As I fed her another bad line Oh I didn't have to beg With her hand on my leg Well, she asked if that stiff drink was mine No! It's just my flask in my pocket That I like to share with my friends It's just my flask in my pocket And a means to enjoyable ends. We ran from the pub in excitement But I lost her in the crowd on the street As loud as I was Singing like a drunk does I fell prey to a cop on the beat He told me he needed to frisk me In his search for some illegal greens No hint of panache This thick-necked mustache Thought he grabbed a magnum in my jeans No! It's just my flask in my pocket That I like to share with my friends It's just my flask in my pocket And a means to enjoyable ends. Now, when this old life is over, And my flask and my liver are gone I'll sit at the gates Subject to the fates Who'll expect I'll admit all was wrong Saint Peter will give me the stink-eye When my funeral mourners all dance Oh, he'll ask and he'll frown Looking me up and down What's sticking out of my ethereal pants? Oh! It's just my (stomp) in my pocket That I like to share with my friends It's just my (stomp) in my pocket And a means to enjoyable ends. Hey! It's just my (stomp) in my pocket That I like to share with my friends It's just my (stomp) in my pocket And a means to enjoyable ends!

Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Smuggle by day, drink by night, hey hey hey! Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Travel from town to town Casing your mansions and stealing your antiquities Ride upon the railway, heading for the coast Steamer ship across the sea, well, I don't like to boast But we're the baddest band of smugglers you ever have seen Taking this and taking that and trading it for the green Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Smuggle by day, drink by night, hey hey hey! Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Travel from town to town Casing your mansions and stealing your antiquities I don't want a safe roof and and early bed Cornered on a midnight run, you might just lose your head But when you're the best, all the rest can take a flying leap You'll never have to worry about dying in your sleep! Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Smuggle by day, drink by night, hey hey hey! Oh, I wanna be a smuggler Travel from town to town Casing your mansions and stealing your antiquities

Chills creeping up when you call me One kiss, destruction, catastrophe Oh, I see your body rocking Body pool's so wet, I wanna dive in With your hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison Hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison Hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison, Oh! I said go baby, go baby, go, yeah Oh, baby, go baby, oh yeah Go baby, go baby, oh yeah Said go a little lower, baby, almost there Kiss down your hips, meet your thighs The way you greet my lips, mesmerize You're sweeter than Bulleit whiskey I'ma get hung-over and you're gonna miss me With your hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison Hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison Hot (hot!) sex (sex!) poison, Oh! Go baby, go baby, go, yeah Go, baby, go baby, oh yeah Go baby, go baby, oh yeah Go a little lower, baby, almost there

I went to a funeral for a man I did not know I went to a funeral for a man I didn't know was dead Faded bride, full of wine uncasked Tells me your story unbidden and unasked I come uninvited, my life just begun To drink to a man whose thread's been unspun I went to a funeral for a man I did not know I went to a funeral for a man I didn't know was dead Holding court at the center of it all, Your friends and your lovers all remember your fall You rise up, for one night, forgiven of your sins And your child lies sleeping as the rumpus begins I went to a funeral for a man I did not know I went to a funeral for a man I didn't know was dead Midnight comes A gentleman's toast to a man unknown When noise breaks the walls, we break out and away To the moon and the river that carries us away I went to a funeral for a man I did not know I went to a funeral for a man I didn't know was dead

We come from Finland We come from France We speak in tongues Germanic And flavored with Romance We fled from Russia Another place to die We go where there is freedom And it's plain to see why So if you think we've got the world under our control We're gonna shine some light into your soul Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Your bubbe, your zeyde, your kinderlach too Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew We go from town to town Wherever we can stay whenever they start lynching us It's time we ran way We pick up a few husbands And wives, as we go. And we sing to our children All the niguns that we know Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Your bubbe, your zeyde, your kinderlach too Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Now you can see us everywhere you turn A shoeshiner named Johnson or a lawyer named Stern You can't always tell us from our hair or our nose But no matter how we look, we're Jewish to our toes You say we don't look it? Well that's a load of drek My mother was a shiksa, so what do you expect? Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew Your bubbe, your zeyde, your kinderlach too Every kind of Jew is a Mongrel Jew
